Gold Fish

Goldfish is a type of fish that has been always clearly popular among pet lovers since it has been domesticated. It is believed that these fishes were first brought up in China, during the Tang Dynasty which reigned through the seventh to the tenth centuries of our era. They were first seen as a mutation of a already existing silver variety that quickly lost its place in front of the increasing popularity that the Goldfish achieved.

They attracted people’s attention due to their beautiful golden and shinning colors. Goldfishes are part of the carp family in which Koi fishes and Crucian carp fishes also have an important place. There are several breeds of Goldfish, such as Black Moor, Bubble eye, Butterfly tail, Calico and Calico fantail, Celestial eye, Comet, Common, Crown pearlscale, Fantail, Lionchu, Lionhead, Oranda, Panda Moor, Pearlscale, Pompon, Ranchu, Ryukin, Shubunkin, Telescope eye and Veiltail having every one different colors and sizes.

Goldfishes have the typical shape of a fish, with an oval body that can grow up to 23 inches, while their weight will hardly pass ten pounds. It is believed that if they are kept in big tanks with a proper water conditioning and care, they can reach alive up to ten years. As with any other type of fish, you need to take good care of them if you want to have one of these at home.
